Bruce King’s design is definitely “modern classical”. Built in six layers of glu-lam wood (four internal layers in cedar and two external layers in mahogany), its sleek forms, freeboard, flush deck and oval skylights are what give “Antonisa” its early 20th century feel. Below deck, King’s design is nothing short of breathtaking: a functioning fireplace, an organ and an elliptical wooden bathtub are just some of the interior features. However, the true brilliance has been the builder’s ability to use “high tech” materials, methods and cutting-edge systems while creating a traditional cherry wood interior. Alessandro Vismara was the project’s building consultant; he was also responsible – among other things – for quality control and technical and economic congruence, the choices of suppliers and for managing relations between the designer, boatyard and owner.
